Cyber security, also referred to as information technology security, focuses on protecting computers, networks, programs and data from unintended or unauthorized access, change or destruction. With the growing volume and sophistication of recent cyber-attacks, ongoing attention is required to protect sensitive business, financial and personal information, as well as safeguard national security.
Keeping this in mind, IIITB has launched a specialized course to address IT Security needs of any organization, especially those dealing in Financial Services like Banks & organisations dealing with Digital services as part of e-Governance initiatives.
“IT security Essentials” – covering basic functions of security set-up with tools and settings for prevention of attacks as well as fixing the breach as quickly as possible using internal resources. The courses will be conducted by experts from the field, blended with IIIT-B faculty.
The course is for 96 hours duration over 12 weekends (Saturdays) at the IIIT-B campus in Electronics City, Bangalore. For a larger batch from one organisation, an exclusive training programme of 8 days can be organized.
The highlight of the course is the “Boot Camp” – hands-on style approach to teach the participants on using the existing tools available within the organisation to beef-up security and protect IT resources & prevent attacks. Even if the breach occurs, for some reason, how to restore the systems quickly and get back to normalcy, will be the core objective of this course.
This course is being conducted with experienced Faculty of IIITB and Industry experts with very high degree of hands-on experience, in dealing with ‘Information Security’ across large enterprises.
At the end of the course, the participant will be able to understand the basic tenets of security architecture to assess an organisation’s vulnerabilities and current threats and also enable preventive measures to minimise the risks. Also, through the boot camp, participants get hands on experience with respect to preparing for an attack, how to restore things quickly, using internal resources and available tools. The course will also enable participant to analyse how to prevent similar attack / breach in future.
This foundation course will also help the participants to get ready for various specialised and advanced course in ‘Digital Forensics’, ‘Cryptography’ etc. which could be organised by IIITB, in future.
