Mr. Vivek Reddy
IIIT Bangalore organized a 3rd edition of Bangalore On IT – Samvaad Talk series virtually for the first time on April 7. Every edition of Bangalore On IT is based on a specific theme, and this edition’s theme was virtual reality. Mr. Vivek Reddy, Co-Founder, Viga Entertainment Technology delivered a talk on “Real-time Movie making using Virtual Production”. Students and external audiences who participated in this event found it to be interesting and useful.
Abstract:The moviemaking process is going through a revolution with the new practices of real-time rendering. In this talk, we are going to be learning about how Virtual production practices can help make a higher quality movie, cut down budgets and get multiple technologies from virtual reality to augmented reality to help in the process of next-gen movie production with examples from The Lion King 2019 and The Mandalorian.
Speaker Biography: Mr. Vivek Reddy is one of Viga Entertainment Technology Founders, who specialize in computer graphics rendering and location-based entertainment. He completed his undergraduate in Electronics & Communication and has a Masters degree in Computer Graphics & Game Technology from the University of Pennsylvania.
Vivek has always liked merging art and science; he has been at the forefront of developing new technologies for Hollywood movies over the past several years. At Prologue films, he helped start a VR division called Prologue Immersive, which was later sold to Walmart. He has worked on several movies as a technical director. He has recently completed working in The Lion king 2019 as a Virtual production technical director working alongside the acclaimed director Jon Favreau.
The unique combination of skills that Vivek brings in include computer graphics, electronics, networking, cloud programming and creativity; this helps make some of the best content being produced at Viga Entertainment possible. Vivek gives a lecture series called "Engineering behind Hollywood", which helps promote learning advanced science to make great art possible, and he is a great evangelist for it.
