IIIT Bangalore and upGrad host their fifth graduation ceremony for digital learners
2,323 students graduated with Post Graduate Diplomas
Bangalore, March 21, 2021: The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIITB), a premier engineering and technology Deemed University, in partnership with upGrad, India’s largest online higher education company, today hosted a virtual convocation ceremony for 2,323 graduates. Gracing the event with their presence were Chief Guest Mr. N G Subramaniam, COO, TCS, along with Professor Chandrashekar Ramanathan, Dean (Academics) - IIITB, Professor S Sadagopan, Director - IIITB, Ronnie Screwvala, Executive Chairman & Co-founder - upGrad, and Mayank Kumar, Co-founder & MD - upGrad.
The class of 2021, along with IIITB and upGrad celebrated the successful completion of their Post Graduate Diploma programs in Data Science, Machine Learning (ML), and Software Development/Blockchain. The students included seasoned working professionals from organizations including Fortune 500 Companies. 20 graduating students were awarded the ‘Top Performer’ award for achieving the highest CGPA in their respective program.
The Chief Guest, N G Subramaniam, COO, TCS, shared his thoughts with the graduates, “Our ability to articulate complex matters with clarity and simplicity will be the most desired skills as we embrace technology in our lives. So the future is now. You can be the GPS. Wish you all a great future!”
“It's encouraging to see so many people return to academics to stay abreast of changing technology trends. Today, as our learners graduate, I wish them great success to win the future of possibilities that await them,” said Professor Chandrashekar Ramanathan, Dean (Academics) - IIITB while addressing the graduates.
“We feel that constant learning is key to innovation and it should be unending. By providing that opportunity via online education, we will soon see a larger skilled workforce in India and across the world. My congratulations to the Class of 2021,”, said Professor S. Sadagopan, Director, IIITB.
