Research Innovation Society and Entrepreneurship (RISE)@IIITB is a three day research based annual event started in 2017. It is intended to showcase IIITB's contribution across these 4 dimensions. We have conducted 5 editions of the same till now.
Research colloquium, Technology Fest and Open House are the main parts of this event.
This year's RISE is planned to be organised as an online event from 17th to 19th of February.
Day one's main event is the Research colloquium, which features Institute's PhD and MS by Research scholars sharing their ongoing research & research-led innovation work with all the students and faculty at the institute. This is an internal event of the institute. The abstracts presented by the scholars as talks are peer reviewed and selected for talks and every abstract submitted is accepted as a poster in the Open House. The intent of this effort is to provide early research scholars an experience of a conference.
Day two of the event is the 'Tech Fest' with our Institute's leading innovators & entrepreneurs showcasing their wonderful creations.
Day three of the event is the 'Open House' which is intended to provide an opportunity to individuals, such as the undergraduate students from colleges and Institutions and corporate employees to visit our campus and interact with our faculty and research scholars. Faculty members will be present to interact with whoever is interested to discuss about their areas of research. Poster sessions and Demos will be organized by students from various disciplines of IIITB starting from IMTech to Ph.D and also by Startups associated with the Institute. The objective of the Open House is to demonstrate the nature of research problems and projects being tackled at IIITB, so as to attract individuals interested in academic or research careers to work with IIITB, as students, project staff, faculty, visiting scholars, or collaborators, for doing high-quality research.
'Open Day' starts with a keynote talk from an eminent invited speaker. Some of the past speakers to grace our Open Day have been Prof. Rajendra Bera retired Scientist National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, Prof. Uday B. Desai, Former Director of IIT Hyderabad and Dr. Valarmathi, N., Deputy Director, Payload Data Mgmt & Space Astronomy Area, ISRO.
Pandemic has hit RISE too like all other activities at the institute. In 2020, RISE was limited to Research colloquium, which was conducted as RISE-Samvaad Talks. In 2021, it was a fully an online event.
