IIIT-B is starting a 4-year B.Tech. (ECE) programme in  the year 2024. The aim of the programme is to produce high quality graduates in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), who are well equipped with skills that are required to solve real world problems. The programme will produce a well-prepared and well-motivated workforce to undertake careers in research and industry involving innovation, knowledge creation, engineering, and entrepreneurship. The B.Tech. (ECE)  programme follows a flexible curriculum that covers the hands-on skills, along with strong fundamentals on circuits and communication systems. The curriculum seamlessly takes students to advanced courses on VLSI, Embedded system, and wireless communication. These set of courses are designed to ensure students understand the relevant topics applied in the industry.  Students from fifth semester onwards are allowed to choose elective courses under the Choice Based Credit Systems (CBCS) as recommended by AICTE and other regulatory bodies. Each B.Tech. (ECE) student should do at least 8 branch elective courses including 4 Project / Reading-based course activities with any of the ECE faculty members. In the 8th semester, the student may opt for thesis or internship in a well-recognized organization.

Students interested in the core of ECE domain are encouraged to specialize in one of the following listed domains by earning additional 20 credits in that specific domain. Students completing ECE specialization (non-minor) with CGPA above or equal to 3.5/4.0 will be graduating with a B.Tech (Honours) in ECE.

1. VLSI (VLSI Systems)
2. NC (Networking and Communication)

Alternatively, the students can earn a minor in a non-ECE area by successfully completing additional 20 credits in the area chosen. The minor could be in one of the following listed areas:

1. AIML (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning)
2. TCS  (Theoretical Computer Science)
3. SY (Software Systems)
4. DT (Digital Society)

Note: The above lists of areas are subject to change and refinements from time to time.
