Qualification Requirements:

The minimum qualification required for admission to the B.Tech. and the Integrated M.Tech. programmes at IIIT-B is a first-class in 10 + 2 (or equivalent) with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Students expecting to complete the minimum requirement by July 2024 may also apply.

The current year admissions to the B.Tech. and the I.M.Tech. programmes are solely based on the NTA Rank in the JEE Main 2024 exam, which is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) (this criterion is subject to the minimum qualification requirements mentioned previously).

Indicating preferences for the programmes at the time of application:

IIIT-B offers admission to the following 5 programmes:

  1. B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (B.Tech. CSE)
  2. B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (B.Tech. ECE)
  3. B.Tech. in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (B.Tech. DSAI)
  4. I.M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering (I.M.Tech. CSE)
  5. I.M.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (I.M.Tech. ECE)

  1. Admissions to the above programmes through a common application process. Inpidual applications to the respective programmes are NOT needed.
  2. Applicants must indicate their order of preferences for the above 5 programmes. This must be indicated at the time of application submission itself and this choice is binding for the subsequent rounds of admission (See the Important Dates section for details regarding the Special Admission Round).
  3. Applicants must mandatorily indicate as their first preference one of the 5 programmes mentioned above though it is not mandatory to indicate the second preference until the fifth preference.
  4. Subject to the availability of vacant seats, the seat allocation will consider the “first preference” first, and in case seats are unavailable for this preferred programme, then it will consider the “second preference”, so on, until the “fifth preference”. In case seats are not available for all the indicated preferences, then no offer of admission will be made to the candidate in that particular rounds of admission.
  5. It is to be noted that an offer letter is only valid in the round of admission in which it is issued.
  6. For the second until fifth preference, a “Not Interested” option will also be available in the application form. This means that the applicant is not indicating any programme to be considered for this preference, and hence, will not be considered for admission for this preference. Applicants must take at most care while choosing the “Not Interested” option.
  7. Once an offer of admission to a programme is received by the candidate, he/she needs to accept the admission offer within the date specified in the offer letter. The candidate continues to be eligible for the programmes of his/her higher preference.
  8. If the candidate chooses not to accept the offer letter for a particular programme, then he/she will NOT be considered for admission to that programme and also for the programmes indicated in the lower preferences in the subsequent rounds of admission. A candidate may choose not to accept an admission offer only if he/she wants to be considered for programmes with a HIGHER PREFERENCE.

Examples: the following are some sample scenarios that may arise.

A) Sachin indicates the following preferences at the time of application:

1st preference 2nd preference 3rd preference 4th preference 5th preference

Prog A Prog B Prog C Prog D Prog E

Suppose Sachin was not offered any seat in Round 1 as no seat in any programme was available then. Subsequently, suppose he was offered Prog C seat in Round 2.

1. If Sachin accepts this Prog C offer, then this seat is confirmed. Note that he will not be considered for admission to the Prog D and Prog E programmes in subsequent rounds. However, he will be considered for admission to the Prog A and Prog B programmes in later rounds, subject to the availability of vacant seats.

2. In case Sachin does not accept the Prog C offer, then he will not be eligible for the Prog C, Prog D and Prog E programmes in subsequent rounds. However, he will be considered for admission to the Prog A and Prog B programmes in later rounds, subject to the availability of vacant seats.

B) Virat indicates the following preferences at the time of application:

1st preference 2nd preference 3rd preference 4th preference 5th preference

Prog A Not Interested Not Interested Not Interested Not Interested

In this scenario, Virat will be considered for only Prog A in all the rounds of admission.
