IIIT-Bangalore seeks outstanding faculty members in the broad areas of computer science, communications and networking, data science, information technology, and VLSI and embedded systems. (We are not presently looking for regular faculty in the arts, literature, natural sciences, or social sciences.)
If you are a highly motivated and accomplished individual with a passion for research and teaching, we encourage you to apply. Applications are accepted throughout the year and are processed as and when received.
While our primary focus is on recruiting regular faculty as Assistant Professors, we also remain open to recruiting at senior ranks (at the Associate and Full Professor levels) if applicants bring commensurate substantial experience and achievements in academic teaching and mentoring, industry collaborations, and research outcomes. Applications are also welcome for Visiting and Adjunct Professor positions.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, or in a related field, preferably with postdoctoral or industry experience
- Strong research record with publications in top academic journals and conferences
- Excellent teaching skills at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues on research in related disciplines
- Interest in working on industry-sponsored projects and addressing real-world problems
Responsibilities
- Teach courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels: Inspire and educate students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to guide them through complex concepts and real-world applications, preparing them for successful careers in tech.
- Conduct independent research: Lead and contribute to cutting-edge research in some field. We value unique perspectives and insights that advance conceptual knowledge and also address real-world challenges.
- Collaborate with colleagues on research: Work together with colleagues within and beyond a discipline. Our multidisciplinary approach encourages cross-pollination of ideas, enabling a broader impact.
- Work on industry-sponsored projects to provide relevant expertise: Bring expertise to industry-sponsored projects and provide insights to bridge the gap between academia and industry, ensuring that our research remains relevant and impactful.

Priority Areas
We are particularly looking for applicants with strong backgrounds in the following areas, though we also remain open to others:
- Statistics and applied mathematics
- Software engineering
- Network protocols and architectures of real-world networks
- Systems, including but not limited to cloud, networking, databases, and exascale

- curriculum vitae, listing their education, teaching and research experience, publications, and the names and addresses of a minimum of three referees, at least two of whom must be from academia.
- a research statement (~2 pages), outlining areas of competence, experience with industry research or funded research projects if any, and the research ideas/goals that they would like to pursue over the next 3-5 years.
- a teaching statement (~2 pages), describing past teaching experience, and indicating the undergraduate and graduate level courses that they will be interested in teaching.
