ABOUT

IIITB Library started functioning with a small collection of books donated by the Founder-Director Prof. S. Sadagopan.  The motto of the library is to provide the right information/resource at the right time in the right format to the user.

MISSION

The primary mission of the library is to provide the required educational resources both in print and electronic format for teaching & learning activities, support the academic and research activities of the institution, and to contribute towards fulfilling the vision set by the institute and to extend its reach to the benefit of the larger professional community.

VISION

The vision of the IIITB library is to build a dynamic learning environment conducive for teaching, learning and research activities of the IIITB community and to provide and  organize information resources and services to the academic community that are avant-garde, diverse, and of top quality.

In accordance with the vision and objectives of the institute, the library has been developing a comprehensive collection of scholarly literature both in print and electronic format, along with the curricula based resources useful for its academic and the research community of the institute over the years.

PATRON INSTRUCTIONS

  • Please do maintain SILENCE in the library.
  • Using Mobile phone is STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED in the library.
  • Please deposit your bags in the baggage counter at the library entrance.
  • Please sign in the register kept at the entrance before entering the library.
  • Eatables are NOT ALLOWED in the library.
  • ID card is a must for issuing books.
  • Library materials should be handled with care.
  • Keep the library tidy.
  • Please do not replace books after reading.
  • Please do not do any markings on Library books & magazines.
  • Please enter the details of the issued books in the issue register kept at entrance when leaving the library.

Borrowing Facilities:

Faculty members are entitled to issue 10 Books at a time for full semester. 
Students can issue no more than 2 books at a time for a week..
Staff/ can borrow 5 Books at a time for a one month.
Course Reserve Books/ Magazines are issued only for overnight.

Renewals: A Book can be renewed twice at a stretch, if there is no request for that title from others.

Overdue Fines: Late fee of Rs. 3/- per day per book is levied on students.

Book Lost/Damaged: If any book is lost/damaged during the borr, please inform the librarian immediately.
The cost of procuring or the original cost of the book, whichever is higher will be recovered from the borrower.

  • Reference Services – 9.00 am to 11.00 pm on all institute working days and
    9.00 am to 6.00 pm during Saturdays & Sundays.
  • Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC).
  • Monthly notification of new books added.
  • Compilation list of new titles published in the relevant academic and research field by Academic publishers and circulating it to faculty for procurement.
  • Display of institute publications as and when published.
  • Course Reserve Books for study within library premises and overnight borrowals.
  • Provide bibliographic and research support services to its faculty & students on-demand/request.
  • Library Membership with IIMB and British Council Library.
  • Provides (Document Delivery Services) article downloads of subscribed and sourcing non-subscribed articles requests through library networks for research and academic purposes, on request.
  • Maintain Faculty profiles (IRINS).
  • Provides Plagiarism Detection Software and support.
  • Printing and Scanning facility on request.
  • IIITB in Media and Institute Publications listing on website.
  • Online Latex editor Overleaf
