International institute is a Deemed University under Sec 3 of University Grants Commission Act 1956  and registered (a), registered (b) under Karnataka Societies Registration Act 1960.
IIITB is also recognized as scientific and industrial research  organization by department of scientific & research, ministry of science & technology government of India. The institute has been accorded as 12B Status by the UGC on 5th August 2024.
